You want
to get the best possible use out of your iPhone every single day. After all,
you've paid a good amount for it. So, your device grinding to a halt because of
low battery is an undesirable thing for sure. We use our phones for nearly
everything nowadays, so knowing how to use the battery in a smart way is
important. Here are five tips to make your iPhone battery last longer.
1.
The Low Power Mode
It's a cool feature introduced in
iOS 9 that gives you three extra hours of battery and asks you to enable it
when your phone hits the critical 20% of charge. The power indicator shifts
from the alarming red to a more comforting orange hue. This mode shuts down
background apps to save power and can be manually enabled in settings under
Battery.
2.
Manage your battery draining apps
iOS 8 and 9 offer the feature of
regulating your battery drain apps through the Battery option under General in
settings. There, you can see the apps you've been using in the last day or week
listed from most draining at the top. Apps like Safari and Facebook will be
found on the top of this list. Limiting the use of these apps will help but
another option is the Background App Refresh under the General tab in settings.
You can turn off this setting since you don't need minute to minute updates for
these apps and you will save battery by doing so.
3.
Limit Unnecessary notifications
Lock screen notifications are
either urgent or not. For the ones that aren't, you can go to the notifications
menu from your menu page and turn off notifications for apps you don't need
instant updates from.
4.
Regulating brightness
This is a common tip, but a very
useful one. Unless you're walking in bright sunlight, you don't really need higher
brightness the latest iPhone provides. Go to the display tab under settings and
slide the bar as low as is comfortable. The battery isn't as equipped as the
brightness and doing the above will definitely conserve it.
5.
Turning off Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a useful tool, but it isn't a constantly necessary one. It
is also a huge drain on your battery. Unless you use Bluetooth accessories, you
probably don't need it. Turn it off by going to the Bluetooth tab under
settings says the Apple iPhone accessories provider.
